Stormy With a Chance of Pain

Richard Hamersma

Genre: Blues

Anticipating the end of a romance can be almost as agonizing as weathering the final breakup. Trying to avoid the end while knowing it’s inevitable, is painful enough to make anyone sing the blues.

I can see the gloomy clouds are forming
And I feel  trembling in my heart
What used to be so bright and sunny
Is now overcast and dark
We try not to think about it
It ain't  nothing we can explain
But it ain't  no use  pretending
It's getting stormy with a chance of pain

Seems we talk too much about nothing
Don't ask questions we should ask
There ain't  nothing to discover
If we just hide behind our masks
No matter how  we try
There ain't  no truth running through our veins
Words just run together
It's getting stormy with a chance of pain

I can see the clouds up in the sky
Not what lies behind those eyes
A thousand times I've caressed your skin
I've never  touched what lies within

I'm in the middle of nowhere
You're here but  I don't know where
Our hearts and  tongues are frozen
It seems  we no longer care
To live and love is to suffer
It's as common as the falling rain
We can't close our eyes forever
While it's getting stormy with a chance of pain
With a chance of pain
It's getting stormy baby
With a chance of pain
It's getting stormy baby
With a chance of pain
